Our Story

HYGGE’s TEAM

 

Since 2019, we have built a small but dedicated team of fantastic individuals who are the heartbeat of our business.

When we recruit staff, we have a clear understanding of what we’re looking for in a team member. Yes, its useful if they can make a banging coffee, if they have experience in the industry, or if they are well organised. But these things are all far less important to us than the main ingredient: are they ‘HYGGE’?

We look for those who have big hearts. People who put others first. People who enjoy being able to brighten someone's day.

Our brief was this...

Create a spacious coffee shop with a warm, welcoming approach, and quality food and drink.

 

A place where you can order a triple shot decaf skinny hazelnut latte without judgement.

 

Where you can sit for hours on end without feeling pressure to order another drink.

 

A place where you can take your shoes off, put your feet up (literally), and feel like you're at home.

 

A place where everyone feels welcome, safe, and cosy.

From here, we began our research, and we fell in love with the Danish way of living.

 

Scandinavians embody warmth, friendliness, equality, and cosiness. Danes have a word for this - hygge.

 

 

If you have ever had the privilege to go to Denmark, you’ll know how wonderful the people are.

 

We are not a Danish business, simply Danish inspired. We hope that Danes would approve of our take on their concept.

HYGGE'S MISSION

Our team are encouraged to prioritise service above everything else. At the end of each night, if we have made one persons day, or left a lasting impact on a customer, we have done our job well.


We haven’t reinvented the wheel - great coffee shops existed long before we arrived. But if we can add a ripple of positivity to the pool of life, we’ll sleep well each night knowing that we’ve done our bit.
